The Michigan Nanny Authority is now interviewing for the following position:

A loving family in Grand Haven is looking to hire a Full-Time Infant Nanny for 40 hours week!

Parents are looking to hire an experienced, professional Career Nanny with extensive experience working with infants and toddlers to provide top-notch loving care and consistent learning and development to their infant daughter, who is 6-months-old.  Nanny will work Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm for a total of 40 hours per week.  Family will guarantee a minimum of 40 hours a week and overtime will be paid for every hour worked over 40 each week.  They are also open to hiring a Nanny who prefers working Monday through Thursday 7am to 4pm for a guaranteed 32 hours per week.  Nanny will be able to start right away!

Nanny will partner with the parents to care for the emotional, social, developmental, and educational needs of the baby girl.  They will be a loving, maternal caregiver who is invested in the child’s health, safety, education, and growth long-term.  They will have knowledge of and/or experience with Montessori methods and be comfortable with child-led learning, teaching through play and experiences, and helping the baby girl explore her interests as she grows up.  The family will happily provide access to Montessori trainings and/or ongoing curriculum for the right candidate who doesn’t already have this experience.  As the baby girl’s best friend, playmate, and educator, Nanny should be engaging and attentive, able to plan gross and fine motor skills activities and sensory activities following Montessori methods, and should be fostering a love of and excitement for learning and exploring the world around them from day one.  Daily outside playtime, playdates, story times, classes, and other age-appropriate social excursions with COVID safety precautions will be encouraged.  The family is very active with outdoor sports year-round and hope to instill this love of being outside to their children, and would ideally have their Nanny travel with them on some of their annual adventures, both nationally and internationally.  They would love to hire a Nanny who loves being outside as much as they do, has experience with or is comfortable around a variety of outdoor sports, and is passport ready!

The Nanny will also be responsible for light child-related housekeeping, including: doing the baby’s laundry, washing bottles daily and other dishes used, tidying and maintaining organization in the baby’s room and play room, and tidying up after themself and the baby in the common areas (living room, kitchen, etc.)

Both parents primarily work from home in offices separate from the areas that Nanny and the baby girl will spend their time in.  They generally stay busy in meetings and on phone calls, so they plan to maintain a low profile during the day to keep interruptions (to their work and to Nanny’s work) to a minimum.  Both parents have limited local daytime travel as part of their positions, so they would appreciate some flexibility from Nanny in case of late meetings, inclement weather, or highway traffic issues.   Nanny should feel comfortable sharing their work environment and brief parts of their days with the parents.

The family has two medium sized dogs and two large cats, so Nanny should be comfortable having the family’s furry children around during their workdays.  They will be asked to let the dogs into the fenced-in yard throughout the day, but no other care will be needed for the animals—just being willing to give them love and attention, too!

The ideal Nanny for this family is friendly and outgoing, with a personal and professional enthusiasm and passion for spending their days loving on and investing in an infant (and her family!)  They are a professional career Nanny with solid work ethic and a high level of reliability and flexibility.  They are a maternal and loving caregiver who will naturally become an important part of the family and thrill along with the parents over every new stage, development, and accomplishment as the baby grows up.  They are also a creative and playful caregiver and natural educator, who believes in laying an early foundation for learning by engaging the infant with intentional conversation, books, songs, toys, and exploring the world around them, preferably following Montessori methods.  The family hopes Nanny quickly feels like family, and will be comfortable and confident in keeping open, honest lines of communication with the parents in all things related to the child and the position.  They would love to have Nanny join them on family vacations and hope to hire someone who is willing to participate in the outdoor sports they’ll plan these vacations around (ie. skiing/snowboarding, sailing, hiking, etc.)  Preference will be given to Nannies who speak a second language, who are Montessori trained, and/or who are active and adventurous by nature.

This position requires a long-term commitment to the family, and preference will be given to the candidate who is willing to stay for 3+ years.  A minimum of 1 year commitment is required.  Pay will start at $20-24 per hour depending on experience and education, and Nanny will have guaranteed pay, paid time off, paid sick time, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and other standard nanny benefits.   Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.
