The Michigan Nanny Authority is now interviewing for the following position:

A loving family in Richland is looking to hire a TEMPORARY Full-Time Nanny for 35 hours per week, from November 1st through mid/late December!

The Family’s current Nanny/Household Manager has surgery scheduled for November 1st and will need at least 6 weeks of recovery before returning to work.  During this recovery period, Family is looking to hire an experienced, professional, and reliable  Temporary Nanny to provide high-quality childcare and loving engagement for their three children, girls who are 9-years-old and 5-years-old, and their 1.5-year-old boy.

Nanny will work Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 12:30pm with ideally one full day each week till 5:30pm for a guaranteed 35 hours per week.  There is some flexibility in the weekly schedule for the right candidate.  The Family’s Temporary Nanny will be able to shadow the family’s full-time nanny before their surgery day, so the Temporary Nanny will ideally be able to start in the last week of October.

A typical day in the Temporary Nanny’s position will involve getting the girls up and ready for school, overseeing breakfast and packing lunches, providing transportation to school and preschool for the girls, overseeing feedings, playtime, outings, and morning nap for the toddler boy, helping with some Household Management tasks during naptime (such as putting away groceries, helping with kids’ laundry, doing light meal prep, helping with the family’s dogs), and providing care for all children if there is a sick day, snow day, and on school breaks.  On their longer work day, Nanny will also pick up the girls from school and preschool, help with the afterschool routine, and potentially provide transportation to afternoon activities.

The family has two dogs–one friendly, easy-going lab who will need minimal care during Nanny’s workday, and a therapy labradoodle who is still a puppy and will need more frequent let-outs during the day.  Nanny should feel comfortable having the Family’s furry children sharing their workspace.

The ideal Temporary Nanny for this family is friendly and outgoing, with an optimistic and enthusiastic approach to life and a great big, loving heart toward others.  They are a professional career-minded caregiver with a strong moral compass, a solid work ethic, and a high level of responsibility and dependability.  They are a naturally maternal and loving caregiver who will love the children in their care as if they were their own.  They are a creative and playful caregiver and natural educator who will lay an early foundation for learning by engaging the toddler boy with intentional conversation, books, songs, toys, and exploring the world around them.  They should also have a collaborative nature and excellent interpersonal skills, and will prioritize honest, direct, and kind communication, both with the children and the Parents.   The Family loves to be outside playing together and values a whole-foods-based diet, so their ideal Nanny will equally enjoy being active with the children and will have an understanding of healthy nutrition.

This position requires an expected 6-week commitment to the family, from November 1st through mid/late December.   Pay will start at $20-22 per hour depending on experience and education.   Details will be discussed with qualified nannies at an in-person interview.

Are you the right candidate?
  • Will have AT LEAST three years of part- or full-time nanny experience, or at least three years in a daycare or classroom setting, from age 18 forward.
  • Will have their own reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legal to work in the USA.
  • Must pass a thorough background check and drug test before starting the position.
  • Must have current CPR/First aid certification or agree to complete a class within 90 days of start-date.
  • Must have the COVID vaccination and annual flu shot, or be willing to get all before their start date, and must be willing to get a flu shot annually (parents will pay for any immunizations.)
